My name is Ihsane, aka, good deeds. My health journey started once I first migrated to the USA in 2001. Although I was always a big eater since I was a little baby, something in my new home made my food addiction worse: Maybe abundance and affordability of food, or its "less natural" nature. Regardless the cause of my rapid weight gain and health decline, I went from being a fit 23 years old young woman to a morbidly obese person battling more than 6 different ailments in her early 30s.
Going to doctors was making it only worse; more diagnoses, more medications and no answers to my burning questions: what is going on with my health..?
I still remember in 2013, when I was accepted to the Nursing program. I was required to perform CPR on the mannequin and I was about to die on it panting, sweating and thinking "how can I save patients if I cannot save myself?" Below is a picture of what I looked like at that time. It got worn out from the many times I show it to my current patients to instill hope in them. I had severe IBS, depression, osteoporosis, diabetes, hypertension, gallstones, kidney stones, frequent bladder infections, dental cavities (despite my meticulous oral hygiene) and obesity of 220 lbs at the age of 33. Let alone chronic fatigue, pain and difficulty walking and moving around.
Every time I go to a doctor for an answer, I would only get more diagnosis and medications, but no answer of what is going on with me. I'm too young for all of that, and cannot afford to leave my beautiful children as orphans!!!
Despite all of that, my faith in God was unshakable. I spent countless days and nights in research until I found out about functional medicine: addressing the root cause of the problems and treating the body as a whole, including body and mind, not pieces.
I was so thrilled that someone will finally help me get back my stolen youth; Unfortunately it turns out this amazing medicine must be reserved only for the millionaire. To just see a PA, not the famous functional medicine doctor I would follow his videos on youtube and highly honored, was at an initial cost of $6,000.
I prayed to Allah so hard that if he helps me figure out my health on my own, I would put every effort to help anyone who needs it at the lowest, most affordable cost possible. And indeed, Allah answered my prayer and here I am fulfilling my promise.
I was reading and researching day and night, firing every doctor who wouldn't want to listen to me or work with my own revolutionary health plan to reclaim my health and youth back, and reverse ALL my health conditions. I believed in the "patient being at the center of the care" type of model and I was my own guinea pig. Special thanks to my primary care provider Dr. Ramsey Joudeh who believed in me and worked with me to achieve my best self ever.
And so here I am during the year 2023 going to get my second daughter married in Malaysia getting mistaken for the bride. At age 43, I had my fifth child and became a grandmother and that is what I looked like Mashallah :)
If I did it, every woman can do it if she wants too as well.
